An evaluation meeting was held on the work of the DTS Design Center under the Presidency of Strategy and Budget.
Attending the meeting, Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş and DTS Design Center Manager Assoc. Dr. Şefik Baran Tarhan gave information about the studies carried out in the fields of Leather, Textile, and Ceramics (DTS) and the activities to be carried out in the future. At the meeting, after giving information about the activities of the Design Center, university-industry collaborations, and the protocols made, the projects supported by BAP in the fields of DTS were discussed in detail.
Speaking after the presentation, Presidential Strategy and Budget Department Head Tolga Balcı stated that the development graph of Uşak University DTS Design Center is very good and that Uşak University has a very strong relationship with industry among the specialized universities. Stating that they observed that the methods followed in the selection and follow-up of DTS projects were prepared in a very professional manner, Balcı stated that they were happy to see the success of the projects put into practice. Underlining that money was allocated for the construction of the design center building of Uşak University to be used in 2020 and that the only institution that was given an expenditure item for the construction of the building, Head of Department Balcı added that this project excited the whole ministry.
Stating that Uşak University, which specializes in design in 3 main industries such as leather, textile, and ceramics, has made a name for itself with the work it has done in the last two years, Rector Prof. Dr. Savaş said that they continued their studies as a university without slowing down. Underlining that with the completion of the DTS Design Center building, exemplary works will be undertaken not only in Uşak but also in the region and Turkey. Dr. Savaş said, “We will continue to work with all our strength in line with our goals for the development of our country and to reduce its dependence on foreign sources. The basis of a sound economy lies in using the country's own resources and workforce correctly. As a university, we create and implement our action plans with the awareness of this thought.” he said.
